Story: Arjun (Sharwanand) and Vijay (Siddharth), two long-time friends, face a crisis when Dhanunjay's (Ramachandra Raju as a Vizag-based don) men are behind Vijay. Arjun takes it upon himself to save both Vijay and Maha (Aditi Rao Hydari), Vijay's girlfriend. But a twist awaits him. Dhanunjay's elder brother Gooni Babji (Rao Ramesh) and Arjun's friend Chunchu Mama (Jagapathi Babu) become an integral part of their collective destiny. Analysis: As the film begins, we understand that Arjun's life has been weathered by events that occurred over four years. His voice says that only he who knows the value of love and friendship can bear the burden of a strained relationship. The story flashes back to 2017 when Arjun and Vijay were thick friends who eventually fall out after the latter betrays his true colours 🚶🏻‍♂️ The scenes between the two friends are unevenly engaging. A major flaw is that the chemistry between Sharwanand and Siddharth doesn't quite hit the bull's eye. Punchlines such as "I am a follower of Bhagat Singh" don't land as well. They call themselves rebels, a fight segues into a song...🙄 Jagapathi Babu's character is introduced in a shoot-out scene. He is a battle-hardened man wanting to lord over the 'samudram'.🐘 His obsession with aged women is an old-school idea. Ramachandra Raju's Dhanunjay doesn't have an exciting characterization. His scenes are staged routinely. The first 45 minutes are not out of the ordinary. Even Maha's introduction is pretty bland. Anu Emmanuel, as a law student, is seen reeling off the names of IPC sections like a quirky character. Vijay introduces Arjun to the 'cheekati rajyam' all of a sudden. The drama acquires distinction before the interval. But showing Dhanunjay as a pushover after all the hype around him is not satisfying. The characters' motivations can be felt in their bold moves. But something is always amiss. Is Maha angry at all? Why doesn't she look weathered? The characters assume unexpected shapes, the evil laughter of Gooni Babji puts you off. We never understand how only the Arjun-Vijay duo is capable of taking on each other or the most powerful person - Dhanunjay. Would it have helped had the identity of a baby girl been kept suspenseful? It's a question that the director must have contemplated at length. While the revelation may not be too early, its delivery to a key character in the pre-climax portions should have come from someone else. The performances are even. Perhaps, Aditi Rao Hydari not looking the part of a Telugu girl is a flaw. Anu Emmanuel is reduced to a prop. There should have been at least two extra scenes involving Siddharth in the second half without compromising on the length issues. Chaitan Bharadwaj's BGM is to the point in the second half. In the romantic and light scenes, it is not spot-on. Raj Thota's cinematography shines. Verdict: 'Maha Samudram' turns out into One time Watchble Samudram 🤗🌊

Pawan Kalyan was loud and annoying, he reminded of Sai Kumar in Kannada movies showing over energy at every dialogue of his😑 It kind of looked eccentric than his trademark style of performance…😶 Nikisha is the saving grace of the film, her beautiful eyes and fresh oomph gives ample visual feast and she has shown enough confidence in body language and expressions in terms of her acting. Manoj Bajpayee did his best to fit the big villain role and as usual💥, his character was not etched well to give that heavy and powerful impact😔 Saranya was at her standard as a mother, crying when needed, motivating when required and doing justice to her role😇 Ali was stale, Shriya was not required at all, Charan Raj was apt, Nasser was natural, Girish Karnad came and went, Brahmaji was brief, the person doing the role of Nixon was rigid, the others came in to fill the gap and the film duration. Highlights: Heroine Disappointments: No continuity from scene to scene: In one frame Pawan appears with long moustache and in immediate scene with short one… In one scene the villain finds his car missing in Hyderabad City Center and in immediate scene he confronts Pawan Kalyan in Bangkok on a roof top helipad and asks to get back his car. … In one scene Pawan Kalyan wears khakhi uniform and in immediate scene he appears in olive green… No comedy: There is no instance where the audiences can laugh whole heartedly. Pawan Kalyan’s so-called comedy with Nikesha Patel in second half when she seduces him is miserable. STRONG>Weak Choreography: Shriya’s item song got wasted with weak choreography No song is gripping or holding the attention of audiences visually Analysis Right from the word goes, the film takes a sloppy opening and the introduction of Pawan Kalyan was ridiculous. Everything looked disjointed and the feel was missing completely. Here are a few blunders if we can call it poor graphics in Pawan Kalyan introduction sequences, they looked childish, hardly any punch in the introduction of Nikesha as well very wrong sequencing of songs and without proper choreography and unwanted close up shots taking away the appeal each frame lasted not more than 5 seconds and it was visually very disturbing weak content unwanted lectures from Pawan Kalyan for every situation cheap costume selection for Nikesha in many sequences The uniform of Puli Team which reminds us of private security force The dual uniform of Pawan which leaves us with a confusion Negligible and silly comedy Not one gripping sequence The list continues for long but overall, the film lacks the strength or the maturity to really be called as a commercial entertainer. Unfortunately, the strong presence of Pawan Kalyan was missing in this and he looked quite aloof in the film without any involvement. The major flaw for the film is the direction and raw handling of the script with patchy screenplay. Editing was another disaster. Given the budget involved even if the costs for the delay are taken away, the film could have been much-much better. Not one song is appealing, background score was just average. At the box office, this will have a good opening but running successfully is ruled out.

Sudha Kongara-directed Soorarai Pottru, is based on Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey, the autobiography of Captain G R Gopinath who founded India’s first low-cost airliner Air Deccan. The movie is fast-paced and keeps the audience on the hooks. Thus Kongara breaks the general feeling that biography-based scripts are boring 😁 Having a star like Suriya in the lead, you would expect a mass beginning with the camera focusing on his feet, a slow motion walk and maybe an introductory fight scene. But Kongara does away with all that and makes her point clear that she is gonna run this show her way. So you hear his voice and see a shabbily dressed Suriya getting beaten up by the Indian Air Force (IAF) security personnel. Indeed, the movie breaks gender stereotypes, caste and class barriers. Bommi (Aparna Balamurali), though educated only till Class 12 and hails from a poor rural background, is not someone who would be bogged down by gender stereotypes and is way ahead of her times. She is a 'mad' entrepreneur just like her partner Nedumaran Rajangam alias Maaran (Suriya)😎 The chemistry between them holds the movie together till the end 😍 Paresh (Paresh Rawal) is a person who climbed up the ladder to be rich. But he does not want others to do the same and shows his disregard for the poor. He becomes a bit repetitive with his hesitations and dialogues. The confrontations between Paresh and Maaran could have been more electrifying.🔥 While Bommi's character breaks gender stereotypes, the tug of war between Maaran and Paresh breaks caste and class barriers. While Paresh is very particular about who sits next to him, Maaran will do anything to make his dream of a low cost airline - with no class difference - come true. The first song Mannuranda is an attempt to show that there is no difference between rich and poor and that ultimately it is just Re 1 you carry with you on your forehead after death. Maaran offers air tickets at Re 1 to bring the rich and the poor together in one flight. Not just the lead roles, all the other actors too made their roles memorable. Telugu veteran Mohan Babu plays the role of Naidu, Maaran's strict officer in the Air Force, Urvashi is Maaran’s mother while Vivek Prasanna and Krishnakumar are his friends. And then there is the village folk who shell out their savings for Maaran's dream project. Suriya may have shed some of the superstar symbols for Kongara's film but he is still the star in the movie. His genius can be noticed in scenes of him begging for money, his hesitation while asking money from his wife and the changes in his attitude to Paresh when he first meets him as an inspiration and later as his tormentor. Music by GV Prakash Kumar plays you with the right emotions and makes you feel the struggles of Maaran and Bommi. While the song Veyyon Silli and Kaatttu Payale portrays the romance amid the struggle of the two entrepreneurs, Aagasam and Maaran's theme put you in the right spirits to keep the struggle going despite hurdles. Soorarai Pottru faced several delays and its theatrical release was postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but much like Maaran and his flight, the movie has now taken off, albeit on OTT. This low cost flying experience is worth every penny 😇

Story : The film is based in the forest town of Kerala. Vincent(Chemban Vinod) is a butcher who sells beef in this town. Everyone loves meat and even though they are poor, the villagers manage to buy meat from Vincent on a daily basis. But one fine day, the buffalo which Vincent readies to slaughter escapes somehow and creates a lot of trouble. The rest of the story is as to how various groups in the village try to nab this buffalo and become a hero. What’s Good The basic premise of the film is pretty good. How the sport and ancient tradition of Jallikattu are based in a small village and made a story out of it is pretty good. The performances are natural and the best thing about the film is the location. The real forest locations and rooted politics of the village look good. The subplots of various people trying to nab the buffalo have been established well. There is one scene where the buffalo attacks a bank and goes haywire. This scene has solid thrills and lifts the film. Also, the gripping background score elevates the proceedings well. The start-up to the main story and how the plot is unleashed looks good. Even though the film is experimental, it has decent thrills. The camera work is stunning and the production design is amazing. What’s Bad After having a solid start, the film slows down a bit as many subplots are showcased. Even though they look good, they distract the proceedings a bit. Also, there are many characters in the film and they are not introduced well which leads to a bit of confusion for the normal audience. After a point, the story does not move and the villagers just keep searching for the buffalo. So many such scenes are showcased way too much in the film which is a letdown. The climax is also rushed and not explained well raising doubts. Also, the scene where the villagers nab the buffalo has also been exaggerated a bit. Final Verdict : On the whole, Jallikattu is a film that has a very unique and interesting premise. The realistic nature of the film and rustic performances are basic highlights. The film has a crisp runtime and is gripping for the most part. This is not a regular film and is based in a small town. If you ignore the repetitive scenes and slightly exaggerated climax, this film ends as a passable
