For all the walking backward and pushing triangle people have alot to say about this game like it owes their momma a new car. If you don't like feminist issues, females in general, or vote Trump, you won't like the plot of this game. As far as storytelling is concerned, sure, the pacing is a little off with all the back story scenes and some that involve walking slowly for no reason other than to get to the other side of the room and talk. However, deeper than that, this game is impeccable. The only other game that touched on so much character detail and emotional springs that I've played is Life is Strange. (Yes, it's hard to top your best friend in a wheelchair because of you, and her asking you to pull the life support from her body.) However, this game ranks right up there. The dialogue and voice acting might be the best I've ever seen in a game. The truly interesting main characters and the tug of war between revenge and acceptance and anger and happiness is a rollercoaster you'll set down the controller to absorb. When you think of how the story culminates in places, like Ellie's guitar playing near the end of the game, you realize there are layers of storytelling many gamers simply don't understand, or don't want to confront within themselves, especially when it comes to character development and the repercussions therein. So she probably doesn't do what you want, and yes, there are small gripes a person could have about the direction these characters take following the first game, but it is a zombie apocalypse, and to think the heroes would never change or be challenged outside of what we already knew about them would be ridiculous. It's dark. These characters are flawed. The game is made new with other characters, but to give this game anything less than 3 stars, (I'm leaving room for people who don't like survivor games at all) is the only slap in the face the community could dole out. Yes, it goes in a direction I was angry with, but that's how this game messes with you. You're supposed to feel anger and loss and try to find the good. By the end, you'll understand it was all a culmination of a much larger picture many people, especially in today's climate, would find difficult to wrap their heads around. Overall the feeling of having read a great book wraps you up in the end. And think about this. If this game wasn't polarizing or didn't hit so many chords within people after playing it, would it be worth talking about? It's maybe the only game I bought so soon after release, and it was totally worth it. This is coming from a person who really disliked the Uncharted games for how cartoonist they were and anti shooter. Same engine and actions, but so much more to offer.
