Watching this film is like a visit with old friends - if you were a fan of the TV series to begin with. In fact, the pace of the film, the length of each scene and the sweeping camera work all harken back to the series. It’s like a TV episode of Downton Abbey - just on the big screen. And why not? This is no Oscar contender; it’s just a great two hours of how the ‘igh and moi’y lived back in the day. Definitely not for those with a socialist soul but plenty of fun for the rest of us!

This series is about as bland as they can make them. It should be on network TV, not behind a pay wall. The thing moves with the speed of a snail on a sidewalk. My wife and I were anticipating a binge session. But we fell asleep during episode 3. And what’s with episode lengths of 27 minutes?? That sure smells like network TV. In short,despite Julia Roberts’ presence - which is nothing to get excited about - the show’s a howling dog.
