Sorry I’m black but I can’t be biased. The movie was poorly done and the acting was beyond bad. Good lord. I get what was trying to be portrayed, but the acting was too poor to make it believable. I had to force myself to stay awake.
As a black person im quite openly aware of the culture of the modern day Karens, but I don’t think BET really made the mark with this one. Maybe it was the obvious script, maybe it was trying to force an abundance of over exaggerated ‘Karen actions’ into the plot to prove their ‘Karen’ point. Who knows? It was hard to see it as a professionally funded high-production film, plus it also felt a little more ‘Lifetime’ than BET. I really wanted it to be great, honestly. I saw the title and the trailer and I was hyped but it didn’t live up to what I was expecting.
But hey, if someone else can try again and produce a better cinema-worthy version, I’m here for it!
