First two seasons are phenomenal. But then... oh, boy. The shipping becomes the main focus of the show after the first two seasons, and it is just bad. First half of this series, we have romantic plot lines kind of sitting there in the background and an amazing story as our focus. This is good for fans that enjoy a great story, and also good for fans that are into shipping other characters.
The third season is off to a great start with a story driven plot. After this, pretty much all we get is a small thing with the monsters, and a plethora of shippings. We're talking every character that is relevant must be romantically engaged with someone, and in the main protagonists' case, we get a convoluted love triangle.
As someone who became a fan of this show for the adventure and action, I am very disappointed with the turn the show has taken. First half is adventurous with platonic romantic plot lines. Second half just panders to shippers and absolutely lacks the elements it used to have. Show could have gone out with a bang like Gravity Falls did, but instead, it is going down the path that Voltron did.
If you are a fan of action, adventure, and sci-fi, I'd strongly recommend this show. Just brace yourself for the change of pace after the second season, especially if you don't care about ships.
