THIS MOVIE SUCKS.
I felt like I had to write a review because 3.7 stars is a way too generous. If I could, I would give this movie negative stars.
The trailers and reviews were very deceiving. This movie isn’t a comedy, nor is it a heartwarming story about growing up. It wasn’t even remotely relatable to eighth grade. I sat through the whole thing waiting to for an enjoyable moment, but there were none. I felt sad, disgusted, and uncomfortable for the whole duration of the film. I wish I could unsee it.
There was no plot line, and barely any character development for the already bland character. It starts in the last week of eighth grade, and most of the scenes aren’t even at school. The movie was just a choppy and badly put together compilation of one week in the life of an anxious, insecure girl who can’t say full sentences. She makes poor choices in nearly everything she does, and there is no “btw, this is wrong” for the audience. This movie depicts being 13 as a year full of sexual references and pressure from pervert teenage boys.
The voiceovers and footage weren’t put together well, and it looked like it was homemade on iMovie. The background music was obnoxious, and the there were no transitions between scenes. This movie was absolutely awful. Don’t watch it.
