In recent years we have been flooded with sports documentaries and miniseries' due to various teams granting access to the inner workings of their respective clubs. Amazon alone seem to be churning one out every few weeks.
However, with The Last Dance and the focus on the star studded Chicago Bulls team of the 1990s, Netflix has provided us with a sports documentary that has something over all of the others - a team which we are not only interested in but one which can hold claim to be one of the best sporting teams in history.
In the 1990s Michael Jordan was not just the most famous sportsman in the world, he was quite possibly the most famous man in the world.
Add to the mix the controversial bad boy Dennis Rodman, the massively underappreciated Scottie Pippen, legendary head coach Phil Jackson and the pantomime villain in General Manager Gerry Krause then my Lord do you have one heck of a solid foundation for an entertaining sports documentary.
This 10 part miniseries focuses on the multiple championship winning side that dominated basketball in the 90s and gives great insight in to the players, staff and internal factors that made them such icons of the time.
All of the major players (both on and off the court) provide interviews, all of the highs and lows of the period are intimately discussed by those involved and we are provided with great sporting footage, behind the scenes action and an idea of what it takes to make a sports team truly great.
The ONLY negative I would say, and it is a big one, is that unlike other sporting docs such as Senna, Hoop Dreams and Undefeated you really need to be a fan of Basketball to fully appreciate the series.

MJ is the greatest ever to have set foot on the court! There will be no bigger competitor and no other player that can do what he has accomplished.
Watching this is a flashback of my childhood and you could feel the excitement over basketball. So far the documentary has been great to watch and it seems every episode just gets better than the last. Can't wait for 9-10 & Repeat the entire thing back on a binge watch!!
True leader, true competitor, true motivator, and loyal over everything! People often try to break down and destroy things that they don't comprehend - MJ was so resilient in how he dealt with critical situations that would have broken a lesser person. Have to love everything about this guy form his work ethic to his love of his family.
Others have had the opportunity to come into this league at a much younger age and were never able to accomplish what this man has accomplished.
GOAT - All day everyday - Made the game of basketball!
