Well my actual rating would be 3.5/5, nevertheless, the film is about this vindictive couple, Zhenya and Boris, who're on the verge of getting an ugly divorce. Both of them are cheating. Zhenya with and older divorced man and Boris with a woman who is already pregnant with his child. Both of them reject the idea of taking the custody of their emotionally broken son with a resounding disdain. They do not care about their 12-year old and show zero concern for him. Zhenya wishes that she should've aborted him. And one day, he disappears..That's all you need to know about the plot.
The only real flaw in this film (which for many wouldn't matter) is that the film is meanderingly paced. A few scenes were totally unrequired. The screenplay is great and so are the performances. The sound design is exquisite and the cinematography is to rave for. Andrey Zvyagintsev crafts a film which is at once a heart-wrenching tale of young boy and also a scathing critique of the postmodern Russian society. I highly recommend you to watch it.
