Personally I’ve had to sit w/ this for a minute, because this movie is very shocking & i go both triggered & tired of it. First, In terms of filmmaking, it’s ok? The way it was filmed for the first half was neat (that’s one star), but by the second half it just became annoying. Of course, the way it was filmed was supposed to represent a bad trip, but even then i just wanted it to hurry up & finish. It was too drawn out, specifically in one scene near the end. Secondly, this is a movie you have to have the stomach for. It’s purposefully meant to have no humanity in it. It’s a pot of raw chaos to the point of it teetering on the side of what I’d think to be torture porn. I personally got really triggered, as someone whose suffered from self-harm in the past. I also don’t agree that this is how bad a trip can be on acid (as I have taken it before) but for all intense purposes, I say it was a mystery drug since acid was only speculated & no one knew what the drug was really. Personally none of my bad trips have been that intense or scary, neither did people I ask who also watched the film and who also taken psychedelics. I gave it a second star only for the diverse cast, showing lgbtq+ & poc characters. it’s overall, just a gross movie. That’s all I have to say about it.
