A brilliant take on the Yakuza based storyline. Deep, nuanced, gripping, engaging, slow in pace yet always simmering with emotions at the top, extremely well characaterized and some fine performances by each character. ‘Lil ken’ is understated but measured, the ‘boss’ is central but not overpowering and ‘brothers’ are accomplice but foundational in the story. The ending is superb and leaves you with so much food for thought on the ideas of - societal expectations, concept of family and brotherhood, prejudices and irony, acceptance and rejection in the modern world. Loved it!

It grows on you and if you are invested enough in the story and the characters, it might just be one of the best series that you have seen on the subject of mental health, social norms, autism and familial relationships. The characterisation of Moon Sang-tae is beyond belief by oh jung-se. I think I can say haven’t seen a more real act for an autistic character. The female protagonist is also brilliant and the male lead also does his job well. The role of storytelling, books and animation with relevant meaning and associations to the main story basically shows the writers have thought through each episode and screenplay for extremely well. Last but not the least, brilliant direction. Brining together different story / character contexts seamlessly into a singular storyline and not letting the actors overdo their parts must have been tough. Great job, highly recommended.

Amazing, deeply nuanced, layered with multitude of emotions, highly engaging and engrossing and not to be missed if you like intense human drama. Screenplay and characterization is par excellence.

Nostalgia, simple yet endearing storyline, beautiful characterisation makes this one of the best drama series in recent times. If you have grown up in 80-90s....developing country, middle class households, you will relate to every scene in the series. Definitely worth a watch.

Beautiful stories, deeply nuanced and complex emotional structures yet simple and relatable. Loved each episode and how the ‘dish’, while not being The Central theme of each story is the device that helps connect all the dots in the end. Wonderful writing and at the same time brilliant characterisation. Will definitely suggest you to watch both seasons.

Quite simply the greatest animation movie ever made. Thought provoking, heartfelt, innocent yet, deeply moving, all packed into 2hours of a motion picture.
