I did not think this movie was intense. It just seems mid-life, bored madness which happens to most of us for a brief time. But Jack is deeply philisophical and he plays with words and by play I mean he fashions a perspective out of clay or mire. By drinking he spiraled which also happens to writers who practice writing in stream of conscious. Sometimes nothing magical happens. No title emerges in the end. That's the case here, in my opinion.

Sometimes you want to watch a quiet movie instead of living your life. This movie is perfect for that. I like that Jarmush gave us a new "city character" after his hollowed out 80s Manhattan. If you allow this movie to change your perception of what is entertaining, you can then go back to your life and see beauty in it more close up than before.

Creepy, obnoxious, unsexy, uncool, low-educated, aggressive, objectifying, coast-schizophenic, embarrassing, and not even the sign of the times. I was 8yrs old at the time and my disco roller skating days were on point then. This is not. I only enjoyed seeing Donna (RIP) and feel sorry she had these lines and that the director ever said, "cut" for any one scene much less all of them. For those of you curious, people in the 70s did not act/talk like this but only partook of the activities. No one even danced disco in the scenes. Ser studio 54 Youtube clips. I'm not trying to be harsh but this is honestly one if not the the worst movie I ever seen. The album on the otherhand was all the rage!

The person and story, 5 stars. The direction of the Doc, 4 stars minus some poor editing decisions (rolling her eyes eating, gross exit). The direction of the Movie, 2 stars-over sold and lacked budgeting and/or quality movie effect or storyboarding. GREAT cast. Blending both would have been cool. Interviewing Wendy another day looking more straightened up would have been more triumphant and appealling. She is single after all!

Perfect for COVID9 quarantine blues! I did watch it in parts and didnt take it to seriously at first, then I just loved the philosphical tone of it all. Reflects my outlook during this global pandemic. Makes one think outside the box as if; "Whats going on here?"

Great balance of perspectives! Appreciate how it articulated personal insights. It's helped me find a better way to explain things that as a person with a progressive hearing loss, copes with including, too much sound at times. Validating for all communication methodologies. Pretty flawless and timeless. Bittersweet nod to the potential decline of Deafness as a culture. Amazing position of director and the calling to document. Thank you, and to the whole family.🤟

You know it's talent when as a viewer you cannot even critique because you felt like a lost child at play the whole time. So good it gives the meaning "wild card" a new meaning.
