Everyone wants to do the next Game of Thrones. This is it. At first glance, this show might seem nothing like Game of Thrones. It’s an animation based on a popular video game. But don’t get fooled. Arcane is a masterpiece, with masterfully written characters and emotional drama at its core. The characters are the biggest strength of the show. They are not 1-dimensional, as is the norm with most TV series. Arcane characters expose their vulnerabilities to the viewer, which makes them relatable. You root for them. You experience joy when them. And you cry with them. The characters alone could make this show great. But Arcane has more to offer. The animation is one the best I have ever seen. The music supplements the show perfectly–I’ve been listening to Arcane’s original scores on a loop for weeks now. The show never bores you–the pacing masterfully alternates between periods of build-up and pay-off. 10/10, no question.
