By far this book is better written, better thought out, better than the last book Meyer gave to her audience (we shan’t speak of it... because it was garbage.)
I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but in the whole, this is my favorite book in the series. I’m disappointed that Meyer has decided to not give more depth to any of the characters other than maybe Renesmee. I feel like there are still so many holes in the story that she needs to give priority to so that we, the audience and fans, can create deeper connections to the characters.
In Midnight sun we get to understand and appreciate Edward so much better than in any of the other books. I empathized with him and felt for him. Sadly in the other books all I really felt for Edward was... nothing really. He seemed like a superficial character and lover. To Bella he was just EXTREMELY beautiful and that was it. I never understood why Bella fell for him rather than for Jacob who was a better developed character than Edward. However in this book Edward’s personality is redeemed. We further comprehend how deep his love for Bella was. In this book Bella doesn’t seem at all annoying or whiny. She is completely selfless, kind, smart. We get to know Bella a lot more than we did when we were seeing it through her POV. By the end of this book I liked Bella a whole lot more than I did in any of the other books. She seemed so weak and boring in the first book. It was also annoying how she seemed so infatuated rather than in love with Edward. In Midnight Sun I finally appreciated the connection between the two of them. I instantly wanted more.
(Obviously, we aren’t touching the subjects such as, psycho boyfriend, stalker, or anything like that because... this is a work of fiction! Anything Edward did would never be acceptable if he were a normal human boy. Also, Edward admitted that spying and stalking Bella was horrible and felt bad about it.)
Anyway. Stories that could give more depth to our hated but also beloved Twilight series are these.
Edward and his adventure in New Moon, following Victoria and her trajectory. And maybe even delving into her past learning why she had a talent for running away and why she was so infatuated with James.
Alices background story. What her life was like before being a vampire and why she was James’ failed conquest. Who turned Alice and why?
Carlisle has a terribly interesting life story . Meyer could touch on is his time with the Volturi and how he fought off the temptation of human blood.
Esmes previous life and how she fell in love with Carlisle.
As I said there are still so many stories that twilight lovers need to read and hear. Meyer owes us that much after releasing that incredible garbage for the tenth anniversary of Twilight.
Does anyone else agree with me?
