Complete waste of money. Gameplay exactly the same as TLOU1 - no innovation there.
Story was badly written in my opinion, everyone there is a critical moment, there is a flashback which ruins the immersion. Lots of flashbacks within flashbacks. Also takes away the sense of danger when you know the character makes it out eventually seeing as it's a flashback.
The flashbacks are just a way to extend the game time in an extremely boring and lazy fashion... Thanks Neil.
Overall, not what was expected from the trailers.
(*SPOILERS*)
Joel's death was expected thanks to the spoilers beforehand. However the story failed to add other compelling characters that filled that space.
And no I don't buy the arguments that Joel's death was "realistic" given the post apocalyptic world. The game is about zombies... Realism was never a part of it. It's like if John Wick died in the first movie and the second and third movies were flashbacks from the point of view of his dog.
Playing as Abby could have been fun, if she hadn't been the one to kill Joel, just found it hard to care about any of the WLF. This lead to the second half of the game being a non enjoyable grind. It was also obvious how the writing was trying to force us to like the new characters instead of making them compelling in the first place.
Don't understand how critic reviews can be that different from gamer reviews, and I don't think it's fair to blame bad reviews on "sexism" etc.
