It's not that interesting, illogical, hard to root for anyone, and derirative. There's no surprising plot twists & even the suicide of Vicki's ex-pageant coach is not surprising since she already said that she was sick of being old and would die soon. It's billed as a black comedy, but they have few funny jokes.I only laughed at 2 and they tell the same jokes a few times. The jokes usually aren't funny and are few in between. Sam says she wants to be Miss America in order to get a scholarship 'cause she won't get 1 w/her brains. She's never heard of student loans or gov grants for those w/ low income? Her family is poor, but dad works long and hard, so why don't they fix the exterior of their house? What happened to their $? Her tapping isn't that good, so how did she become Miss Runner Up in OK? She thinks that winning would mean that she was someone 20 years from now when she hasn't accomplished anything else. Messed up priorities ad contradicts her previous statement of wanting a scholarship. Doesn't state what her goals are beyond studying. Obviously, ridiculously illogical. There's no character development. Vicki cheated on andy and wouldn't apologize to his daughter or to him for screaming at her. She forgot to feed her and she ate 'til she threw up. Sam's an excellent singer who wasnt able to notice that she can sing loud enough for people next to her to hear???? pretty loud. They got her drunk, she sang at a lgbtqia club, and sang well. Did it again at a baseball field when sober. Stage fright beforehand. easily resolved. predictable. She accepts a check for talking to sick kids at a hospital. Miss OK's time's too valuable is the explanation. That kid just stared at her 'cause he had thanked her a moment before. Vicki doesn't have sympathy for her daughter when she screamed her head off at her. (They passed her off as her niece w/o a clear explanation.) She and her sister who raised her daughter didn't bother to help her get a date? The girl was desparate for one! She passed herself off as 20 to date a 24 year old. vicki demanded she end it immediately and called her niece a child. why, oh, why do they keep calling her a child? It'd be nice to see some variety in the scenery. Too much interior of houses. Andy, the loving father, breaks up w/vicki 'cause she also implied it was his fault she threw a fit at his sick child. He kept "pushing " for her to meet her. vicki obviously wasn't that into Andy (ie sleeping w/her ex-husband), but why was he into her? There was a scene that made me cringe in the beginning. Andy mocks Ms. TX's teeth which look completely normal. Bleached, but otherwise normal. He calls them horse teeth and said they're totally fake. They did it privately. do we root for the guy who got this man to leave his wife and teens for him?
