This was a great read! With Cathy being my favorite author, with my favorite book of hers being Indigo Blue, I was guaranteed that I would like this book. I would describe it as a young adult novel? I guess. The story is about a girl whose mom has an alcohol addiction. She tries desperately to bring her back to normal with her mother's boyfriend, an ice cream sellor named Giovanni. At this time, her father is getting married. She lives with her grandparents, her grandma has Alzheimer's disease. This book is focused on her father's marriage mainly as that is the main part of the book, or the part that really matters.
I would recommend this for 12+ age group, even though I read it at 11. Even though it doesn't have those lovely feels indigo blue gave me, it was a lovely read. Unless you aren't sensitive to topics like losing your dear one (oops spoiler), addiction to alcohol and stuff, of course you can read before 12.
