At first I would consider this book to be a George-101 textbook as it contains general information about his life that you could easily find on Wikipedia or any Beatles fan sites, but some inaccuracies within this book throw even that characterization out the window.
To directly site from the book, Shapiro mistakenly informs us that the Beatles song “Norwegian Wood” was written for the Revolver album when it was in fact for Rubber Soul. The first big red flag for me!
He glosses over a lot of important moments in George’s life that readers would love to have more details on. The author’s thoughts are often disjointed as he hops between different events so suddenly that it threw me off at times.
Along with typos that could’ve easily been edited and numerous hearsays of events within George’s life sprinkled throughout the book, this “biography” seemed more like a C+ book report written by a middle school kid than an informative piece of work from a professional biographer.
