What begins as a promising movie with a solid plot idea fizzles out in the second half into an emotionless, suspenseless, unfulfilling mess.
The supernatural aspect that looks like it will be the driver of suspense in the movie fails to provide anything meaningful to the plot and becomes forced toward the end. The story behind, and influence of, the spiritual entitles just seems to come to a halt towards the end and there is no real emotional connection created.
What should have been the unexpected gut punch to the movie falls flat with poor execution and little real meaning to the story, what you are left with is a movie where there is no triumphant hero to feel happy for and no successful antagonist to feel frustrated and angry with, there isn't even a final confrontation.
Where the movie sets up the antagonist to be deceitful, controlling, and devious, it ends up delivering a bumbling idiot whose fall from his position of control and power is due to his own stupidity more than the strength and cunning of any of the other characters, and his symbolic demise at the end evokes a feeling of "meh" more than satisfaction or contemplation.
Do yourself a favour and skip this one.
