A book that everyone should read. The quotes below are from Jonathon Karl’s book Front Row at the Trump Show I’m sure the first thing most of you will say is “I would never read a book by Jon! He is so biased that you can’t believe anything he says.” I can see why you probably would say this. I too always thought Jon was picking on Trump. After reading this book I have gained a whole new respect for him. His approach to questioning Trump is not to show any bias to any particular party but to bring out the “real news". As he states in his book “Our democracy is built on trust. We distrust our leaders but we trust our ability to vote them out. We trust our system of checks and balances - and the press – to hold them accountable.” Since Trump has called the press “the enemies of the people”, Jon has made it his objective to ensure the people get the truth – not the fake news. Trump’s fake news is motivated only by an insatiable desire to promote himself, but his assault on truth is toxic and contagious. It infects those who support him and those who oppose him. It only widens our divisions and makes them more difficult to overcome. And the contagion is global. Instead of the USA being a beacon of freedom and an inspiration to those fighting against repression, the repressors now use the fake news to silence voices of dissent in their countries. After reading this I have taken an entirely new view of the fake news. I used to just chuckle and ignore it. I will from this point forward consider the damage to our country as well as the global damage.
