I personally enjoyed this book. Aldous Huxley’s dystopian science fiction novel really makes you appreciate the society we live in today. In the World State, there is no family, marriage, history, or books. The government was able to create this type of society due to major technological advancements, giving them the power to condition and control their people however they want. It is interesting to think that Huxley wrote this novel almost 90 years ago, yet he includes futuristic technologies, like cloning, that he, and others back then, may have believed we would have today. The government designs their society to be productive and stable. They are able to do this by increasing their population through cloning, providing more people to do work, and conditioning them to think less, have little leisure time, and be content with what they have. While the overall happiness of their people and productivity of their society is increased, citizens are stripped of the right to think for themselves and are hidden from the truth. Throughout the book, it is interesting to learn about how awfully weird the characters are, how they think and act, and the relationships that they have with each other.
