A great performance by all three principals; a greater job of directing by Joyn Houston. A metamorphisis of character by Bogart, from panhndler to greedy would-be murderer is a tour de force of an acting performance. Walter Houston is real and believable. Tim Holt is the innocent.
Fabulous movie which stood out in the days when fabulous movies were made. John Houston received a well-deserved Oscar for Best Director.
