About 15-20 or so hours in at level 9. Just got to the second section of the map. Very very fun game so far. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the lack of a day/night system, and lack of factions. Otherwise the story telling is well done. And we FINALLY a game that is well optimized for PC on launch day. As far as the fist zone goes its almost too compact. They could have easily made the map a lot larger as there is 'something' in virtually every step you take whether it be a ruin to search, a side quest or what have you. Very little to complain about approx. 30-40% into the game.
Edit: Gamers reviewing games are WEIRD man!!! Soooooo many reviewers demand this be Skyrim, or better, otherwise they give it 1 star. This is right up there with hating every show since Breaking Bad. Skyrim has been the king for 14 years for a reason it is very difficult to defeat. This is like expecting every new QB to be the next Tom Brady, or they're otherwise garbage that a team never should have drafted! No, what Brady did was exceptional, and we may never see his records broken, we may never see a show as good as Breaking Bad, just as we may never see a game as good as Skyrim.
Avowed is excellent. While it may not be the Tom Brady of video games it might be a Peyton Manning, or a John Elway which is still a very big accomplishment. If this is your genre of game, and you're going to pass on it based on the negative reviews you're missing out.
