This is definitely not a movie for all audiences but for somebody that wants something that’s unique, surreal, stomach turning, yet beautiful I can’t think of a better movie to recommend. It takes the subtly grotesque aspects of life and humanity and presents it in the most confrontational yet poetic way that I can possibly think of. It may seem like mindless shock value to some with the first viewing but there really is a lot to be unpacked with repeated viewings (same can be said for most of David Firth’s films) and there’s a lot more to it than that. Also, the way that it proceeds and contextualizes the music from Flamagra by Flying Lotus and sets it in this universe makes that album more immersive and shines a different light on that as well. Definitely a highlight of Flying Lotus’ career, both visually and musically.
