The movie is supposed to be a mix of romance, comedy and frendship... unfortunately the mix is so bland that the film falls flat and barring a few little sparks there is nothing new or interesting to keep the story fresh, interesting and ... yes somewhat logical (I guess that’s too much to ask for these days!!).
I mean, the girl in the movie - Sweety played by Nushrat Bharucha- is made to be the villian without any rhyme or reason and the whole story revolves around this assumption that she is out to destroy the boy i.e. TITU, who she is getting married to and as a result the boy’s friend SONU takes it upon himself to ensure that the marriage gets called off. To ensure this Sonu and Sweety indulge in a game of one upmanship mostly through repeated close ups and strange expressions rather than actually doing something that makes sense. As I said before the movie makes very little effort to show how the girl is the villian she is being made out to be and the audience has to simply get used to the idea that she is bad because she is a girl getting married into a very rich family and therefore obviously has so called “ulterior motives”, irrespective of the fact that the film shows her doing some good things but you see “She is Too Good To Be True” and therefore she must be a fraud. How does that equation work, I leave it for you to decide.
The girl or her family’s “ulterior motives” or indecent motivations never come to the fore...I mean, why do I even care!
The performances are alright and there are some funny moments but we have seen all this before...remember” Pyaar Ka Panchnama”?
I had fair expectations going in but the film overall and then the ending (don’t ask me to give that away) just left me irritated and frustrated...this could have ben much better for sure! At best 2/5.
