I wanted to like this movie but it just didn’t deliver. I’d say it was 20-30 minutes too long, the varying degrees of Italian accents were remarkably distracting, and somehow they made a story about a high stakes hit man for hire…… boring. That’s quite a feat. Visually it’s a stunning movie, but I don’t know that it’s a good story. The timeline was semi confusing, events that seemed important were glossed over and never revisited, and the plot dragged. Each of the four (6 if you include Selma and Jeremy Irons) main actors were individually sublime. Like, utterly fantastic. But together, they weren’t performing in the same movie.
