This might be long, but bear with me because this needs to be said about Red Dead and GTA.
I just want to say how amazing this game truly is. I love the controls, gameplay, character depth, and even the storyline gets to me. I adore this game, and it was all because of this young man we took in who became family.
He was obsessed with the game and would play for hours and hours, sometimes pulling all nighters just to finish some hard quest line! He could not get enough of it, and would even mention how he felt that the main quest was like his life story. He'd had several rough years, ending up couch-surfing when my brother(his best friend) found out and he came to live with us. The game was his escape and to avoid his old bad habits. He once said it was one of the best decisions he had ever made and that he finally felt safe after so long....It is also because of him, that I can't play it anymore or even look at the game.
On the morning of September 12th, my entire world stopped momentarily. Due to gun violence, I no longer had a family member whom I loved and cherished deeply and had enjoyed watching him grow for that year we had him. I haven't been able to pick up the game since. George loved it so much, we loved it so much, that now it doesn't feel right to play without him. He made the game fun and entertaining, laughing at the mistakes I made, and spazzing out about the games awesome little easter eggs lol.
Red Dead Redemption and GTA have become untouchable in my home and for now that is okay. Eventually I hope to pick it back up again. I just wanted to make this post because this game truly deserves all of the honor and respect we can give. They made a difference in his life for the better, motivated him to be better in life. I think that when a video game can do that, they should get the praise they deserve.
So thank you, Rockstar, for creating something so amazing that it literally changed someone's whole life. ❤
