I LOVE Destinos! I just can't say enough good things about this show. I've been working my way thru it very slowly. I'm only up to episode 19 so far.
First of all, I think the overall concept is brilliant; Using an ongoing show such as looking for a missing person, to explore all the areas of the world that speak a given language. Then one can see all the variations of culture and accent, etc. So, the concept is great, but I also find that the acting and characters are very well chosen and done. The main person, Rachel, is perfect for the role, and Arturo, who she meets in Argentina (and they fall in love) , is also perfect. I actually really enjoyed the episodes where they first met, and the way he 'courted' her. He is such a classy guy. As strange as it sounds, the way they get to know each other is so sweet and 'emotionally correct' (for lack of the word), I watched it a number of times. "Oh, THAT's how you do it right!"
And the same goes for all the other characters that we've met so far; the acting is so natural and excellent. And the characters are people that you connect with and come to love. And all the while, we are learning Espanol!
Also, since I am an older person, (68), I love the time frame that this show occurs in, I was there, but in America at the time.
I just find Destinos to be an incredibly well done series. I can't imagine how anyone could give this a thumbs down. Destinos is a truly an educational and cultural masterpiece.
