I'm here for it. To be honest, my expectations were different from what was delivered. That said, I built my expectations around my reading of the books. In many ways, Villanueve's choices from the film's concept art are even greater than what I have daydreamed about since I was young.
I think his decisions on which narratives to exclude from the movie will result in a better, more straightforward portrayal in the long run. I think the cinematography was excellent, and the all-star cast worked so well in their roles. The character development was a "tell not show" with Paul, but the overall development was great, the world-building was even better, all while advancing the plot. I look forward to this continuing to develop, and teaching the world what Star Wars, and practically all other sci-fi movies and stories have been inspired by.
