Only reason it doesn't get more than 4 stars is because Scorpion (favorite character in Mortal Kombat period) got so little screen time, and his (families) story felt a bit rushed, his fatality was a little underwhelming, his whole head is supposed to be skeletal and a skull during the fatality... granted it started changing during the fatality, but it left me underwhelmed as a Scorpion fanboy... However given those issues and some I've failed to mention, I'll still recommend this movie and consider it a start to reconciling the garbage that was the the two 90s movies...
