I watched this movie to see what Danica McKeller was like in her adult years—I was a great fan of The Wonder Years. In general Crown for Christmas was fun and the acting good; however, fantasy is one thing and stupidity another and I’m not talking about the characters as much as the writers and director. Allie would have to have spent her life in isolation, no TV, no books, no computer, to think that servants in a private home, let alone a palace, should be tipped. It was one of two out-of-character moves that distracted me from the moment. The other one was when Allie enters the ballroom. She holds out the skirts of her gown for some unknown reason. I haven’t seen any girl/woman do that since I was in elementary school in the ‘40s. It looked as though she was keeping the fabric away from her body so we wouldn’t notice that she was somewhat overweight—which didn’t seen to be the case. I’d love to know what the director intended by that weirdness. Other than those two moments, it was a good holiday movie.
