It's really sad seeing a show that could represent a Japanese American household and upbringing well, fall so hard. I wanted to support this for the representation but it's honestly so so bad. It gets close to showing real struggles an Asian American goes through growing up but fails in the annoying two main characters. The Japanese interactions (as a Japanese person) are really well done. It really is so hard to watch and gets more and more annoying because there is no character development. The two main characters are hard to watch and seem to be in a completely different world than everyone else. It seems like they are in a competition on how annoying they can be. If they really wanted to play 13 year Olds they should have cast other older people who look younger. It all just feels like some terrible sitcom. It feels like it's for middle school aged kids but it clearly is not. It could have been so good... I am so disappointed.
