This film was a disappointment. It was marketed as a fun, quirky satire with homages to other movies and it started that way, but it ended with over-dramatized speeches, and an ending that clearly tried to make the audience feel something, but left everyone just feeling confused.
Further the 'patriarchy bad patriarchy bad patriarchy bad sexism sexism sexism' messaging was very blunt and very in your face, again I repeat no subtlety pulled into the dialogue and repeated repeatedly.
The saddest part is there were parents with their kids in the theater that were victims of the awful marketing, because this is in no way a kid's movie.
Overall, the humor was fun occasionally and the set is beautiful, but the whole concept falls apart in the second half of the film and becomes a pity party for the "strong" woman.
The best part was the performance of our lead actors, and all the nostalgia bait.
