The movie is NOT just about adopting veganism for personal health. It's about adopting veganism because of the cruelty and injustice to human beings perpetuated by the meat & dairy industry. Meat is not an essential nutrient and plants can provide you with all the nutrients you need (except b12.) The documentary uses the lens of health to talk about why the USA government is investing our tax dollars in promoting the consumption of foods which are Not good or necessary. Eating meat, particularly the overconsumption of meat definitely causes health problems. Yet, as a nation we're gorging ourselves on meat and cheese. The way we produce meat and cheese harms people and animals. Until there's a way to ensure that hog farms in North Carolina can't spray feces filled water in the faces of residents of color, there's no justifiable reason to consume pig meat. We need to halt the overproduction of meat and the best first step towards that is to decrease the demand for meat. This documentary isn't just about adopting veganism to possibly improve your health, it's about veganism to improve the health of the community and the environment. Altering your diet has varied health benefits. Cutting meat from your diet is a direct boycott of an inhumane industry.
