I, too am writing about the Mike Moore "Opioid Crisis". I take opioids for Chronic pain. For my vertrebrae literally cutting the foreman of my spine in half squishing my Cauda Equina nerve roots everyday, every movement. Not to mention all the metal prosthetics throughout my body due to a car accident. Opioids are the Only reason that I can still hold a job and not be forced into poverty, Disability and living off the system. I'm watching corporations, Media channels all rallying around to make money off this "Opioid" crisis? People have been dying from drug overdoses since the beginning of time. The young people that I know who were abusing this drug now use methamphtamine and heroin. I used to feel bad for the young who died from drug overdose but now their deaths have been used to try to stop Everyone from chronic pain relief and quality of life. Mothers blaming everyone but their own child. Drug addictoin with the possability of overdose is Not a New Found Event. Around here if you know anyone in their middle twenties up to early thirties you can find drugs. These people know. Addiction, like alcoholism is a disease, period. These overdoses are not usually caused by just Oxycontin but a mixture of drugs. It is time for a movement and a voice for the Chronic pain suffers who have no voice and have to pay for the mistakes of others. Everyone is swirling around to find a scapegoat and someone to pay for the much needed Realistic Rehabilitation that Insurances do not want to pay for and still come out on top financially when all is said and done.
Spotlighting Arthritis and Back pain as if it is No Problem. Really, I hope that they physically get it. People don't care until it personally affects them. Where is the news coverage for the, especially elderly, people who take these meds responsibly for Quality of Life. My PCP didn't even want to read the report of my last MRI. Didn't care to know. That is the type of Health care the system is providing Americans now. You want to take drugs, it's your life and you are not only grown but no one is ignorant to the possability of overdose if they shove those drugs down their throat or stick that needle in their arm or snort that powder or smoke that crack. "Mothers Against"...how about "Elderly and Chronic Pain Suffers Against"? We need a movement, an advocate and a Voice.
