I would give the movie one star if I wasnt accounting for the possibility that I could be missing something.
Let me first say, the acting wasnt bad and I can appreciate the IDEA of creating a tense movie about low life schmucks who like to bet and continously put themselves in awful situations.
I cannot, however, appreciate the complete lack of a storyline. I understand that my life may not have the best or most understanding storyline but that's what makes a movie better than just living your regular life.
There were SO many useless scenes that that could have (and should have) been taken out and the audience wouldnt have missed a beat.
Like, the colonoscopy? It played no REAL role in the movie except to maybe connect with the character, if and only if, you've had a colon cancer scare. And they just skipped over the results like it was nothing. I honestly thought the speakers were just up too loud but after reading everyone else's comments, I guess it was supposed to be that way but in all honesty, I left with a headache.
I couldnt appreciate the cinematography like it was meant to be seen. It didnt create anxiety for the next moment, it created anxiety for it to end. After about 45 minutes with no type of build up, no rising action, no start to the climax, I was just hoping the next "tense" moment was the end scene.
This movie did not make me want to keep watching, it made me disassociate myself from the loud and obnoxious arguments and misleading music queues.
I kept wanting to literally skip to end just to see the ending and get on with my life. The entire middle was a waste of 2 hours. The only parts that were worth anything was the beginning and the transitions between unrelated scenes.
*First movie review, ever*
