My family (I was a child at the time) was posted to a now extinct S.A. airforce base in 1958. Servicemen sent to collect bomb debris were ill and some dying early. They had all been given A1 health reports and were posted to other bases. 8 months later the base was closed. There was plenty of black humour for coping and swearing was always worse than civie street in all bases everywhere.
This series was bang on accurate about the time, the language, the idiotic top brass and political bungling. My mum is in her 80's now and loved the fact it has all been brought out now. She just wishes Churchill and Menzies had been dropped in the s***t for their devious treachery and treason to the people of Australia....the aboriginals, the military families, the Adelaide families and all of
the country which is now compromised.
However that line would lead back to the queen, so...... Mum has had treatment every 10 years for reoccurring bladder cancer since her late 30's. Dad died of brain cancer after retiring.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this brilliantly scripted and acted show. You have made an old lady very happy.
A million stars.
