RPG.
RTS.
Survival.
Huge open-world.
Very satisfying grinding that is mostly passive..
Doesn't hold your hand, in fact, it punishes you for thinking it should.
I don't play many RTS games but this one is truly one of a kind. In most RTS games, you spit out troops and send them deep into the trenches to eventually become meaningless statistics.
Not in Kenshi.
Your characters all have a name and a story. Whether it being a story of their troubled past or the story you forge for them during your playthrough, you'll inevitably become attached to your characters. However, you'll find out soon enough that they can quiet easily become a statistic. Because, you see, the unrelenting world of Kenshi will knock them down, eat their limbs, and leave them to become limbless slaves again and again.
The goal of the game is... Well, you have no goal. You'll start out depending on which start you choose and thusly determining the difficulty of getting the ball rolling.
You have a few choices when starting out; you could take the not-so-subtle approach by starting out with one arm and left to rot in the desert or simply, an ex military retiree taking a new path in his life. These, among other choices, will make for an interesting root to your journey.
Something else I really love about Kenshi is that you're not team a and must defeat or ally team b or c or d... I mean, you have that option, but that's not the goal. There IS no goal. The possibilities are basically limitless. Explore the world as a lone adventurer, erect a band of travelling merchants, build a base and evolve it into a major town, ally with factions, obliterate opposing factions, conquer the world, and.. more... like, much more..
I could continue but I feel like I've already said enough. There is just too much to cover with a game of this magnitude, and I'm not saying it's the best game ever because it has its flaws, but it's a damn good game.
