I love this movie! The dark setting, i love the way Michael Mann films! From Manhunter, to the Miami Vice series, all good movies should be shot like this. The dialogue, and the action! Mann always has the camera panned on the characters when heading to a potential shootout to the unknown, meaning a bust or death, the fear of anticipation of death is always a Michael Mann trait. Tom Cruise was great as an assassin! The moves he uses to take out two thugs for stealing his briefcase in an alley, the sadistic nature of an execution of a witness at a jazz club and the conversation after (I can actually see my house in the back, as i live in Leimert Park), this is top notch Mann. I can't wait to hear him giving us another gritty movie, we need it set in LA again. And the music. Technical or 80s, makes a Michael Mann movie. Love it. The coyotes were a nice touch
