Marvel has, miraculously, maintained its quality threshold with "Loki." It's witty, surprising, unexpectedly human. And the performances rise to the material and technical acumen. The idea of a drab bureaucracy running all of time has had resonance since Kafka, but the natural juxtaposition against Marvel's known tendency to excess and spectacle adds a layer of irony. Tom Hiddleston brings real emotion to the tricked trickster. I left the first episode supremely satisfied, and eager for more.
