Watched it on Netflix the other night and found it extremely humane. It is about consciousness, an unforgivable guilt and self sacrifice to atone, at first, an irreversible fatal mistake and, in the end, to save a loved one.
It was a shame to see negative critics' reviews and Netflix's own viewer's guide showing NONE for positive messages and NONE for positive role models - says a lot about modern societal values.
