The film centralises around an African American Trump Supporter. I know it made my head turn, I had to watch it because of all the protests that are happening across the world. People are toppling statues. Television shows are getting scrapped. Makes you wonder, what has our world come to? What can we teach our kids? What can we watch? What is the truth of our history?
African Americans served in the Vietnam War and across the other side of the Pacific, MLK was shot dead in Memphis. It is a story about representing the pains of African Americans during the Vietnam War. It is about empathy. We actually empathise with Don Lindo's character, his performance is amazing btw. He plays said trump supporter.
Not all Trump supporters are bad people even though we like to think of them as racists and white supremacists. They are human beings. There was more to the Vietnam War than we were taught at school.
I love Paul Walter Hauser as well as Chadwick Boseman but honestly I could not have imagined a film that perfectly matches the time that we are living in right now.
