As a Civilization fan I picked this game up because I like many others wised to find another 4x like Civilization. I was not disappointed. The game has potential and focuses on an era that is to short within Civ games. This along with the heir system and your evolving dynasty add something we have not seen before.
With the heir system you can set up further generations to benefit from the work you have laid out. However this only tends to benefit the middle generations as by the time you get to them much of the map and wonders have been revealed or built.
Though after 40+ hrs in the game I find the combat situation is the most bothersome. Through Multiple play throughs I have seen the AI gets a serious boost at every level. On turn 15 when you may have 2-3 combat units you will see the AI with upwards of 20. As each unit can take between 4-10 years(turns) to build from starting cities this is outrageous.
Going to war if the enemy is not isolated can mean your death. Especially when you will see the enemy with archers, spearman when you are running around with just slingers and warriors. Since the game forces you into situations that are a submit or die scenario it can be a challenge to thrive.
Granted I enjoy the game but some tweaks need to be made to improve game play. It is no fun to finally get to the enemies gates to suddenly see 10 units spawn from no where and wipe your last units out.
