I'm trying to be an impartial as I can about this game, because I'm a big time fan. Been watching since 97 when I was 5 and thought I could turn into a giant monkey at night.
I'm giving it 4 stars, because it's not everyone's cuppa tea, even though for me it's a full 5 start game.
Graphically, outstanding! This is (apart from Fighterz) the truest rendition of the anime in its hayday. The characters are artistically true to form, have a beautiful style and also capture the classic art form. The lighting is brilliantly done, including reflections, real-time light sources from ki blasts, and explosions, and decent enough shadows, albeit a little low res on the non-pro version consoles.
Story wise, it's the same story as ever. But the joy is all the little hidden side quests that bring to life some of the tertiary characters.
Gameplay, again amazing. The combat is fluid, although a little repetitive to those who don't use all the sub menus and just mash the attack button. Character lock is never an issue. Camera angles don't seem to be jarring when in close quarters. Multi enemy combat is remarkablely well done. And overall its a joy to fight in this game.
I'd say all in all its a great experience, for any gamer who wants a fun single player rpg style game. To those who want more it's not as in depth as other rpgs. But, at the end of the day, its a dragon ball game.
