Tragic and terrible. I knew a person murdered at the Hotel, who was staying at the hotel on company business and believed to have been singled out from other native Indians due to his American employer. I never understood the personal terror then, in spite of various reports and rumors shortly after the massacre. But during the movie, I felt the terror. I felt his terror, and then felt mine. Whether the details are acurrate or not, it fits most of the description I received second hand. It’s a narrative nonetheless but evokes personal feelings of insecurity in a modern society where no one is safe. The movie has flaws but the narrative is real, and that part of reality is a terror we will continue to face.
