My grief and pain watching this terrific film was overwhelming. I had to switch it off and go and get a drink halfway through.
I believe these events must not be forgotten, not only to remind us of the obscene depths of depravity the Nazis descended to but also how courage, kindness and selflessness reached such heights. The acting is brilliant and the story, as we know, is true, even though it is utterly unbelievable that such wickedness could ever have happened.
I was born two years after the war. My parents and grandparents fought, in both wars.
One cannot “like” a film such as this. I am simply grateful that there are people willing to reenact these events. Thank you for reading and thank you for watching it.
