This movie delivers a tight slap to the homophobic sections of society, and exposes the closeted bigots who say that being gay is 'against our culture', while maintaining the entertainment quotient throughout, never losing steam in either half. It's a rom-com in all its unashamed, unabashed, glory. Stellar performances by both Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar, as well as the ensemble cast, but Neena Gupta and Manu Rishi Chaddha deserve special mention for their stellar performances. Even though this was, by and large a movie that India should send to the Oscars next year, there are certain things that were missing. Even if his performance was very believable, Gajraj Rao's overall act was lacking energy and felt lacklustre. Also, we never got to see Kartik and Aman's backstory. Perhaps they met on Grindr? Or, if we humour the sponsor of the movie, they perhaps got acquainted on Blued? But overall, the movie holds up very well, and while making us laugh throughout, manages to offend the conservative parents and boomers who went to, or are going to, watch it. Kudos to the entire cast and crew!
