As the text continued, it seemed to become a vehicle for innuendo and a certain fantasy. Certainly the author emphasised that he had researched his topic, but I was not convinced of his objectivity, nor of his intention in writing it in the first place. The ‘breathlessness’ of his style of writing, as well as recurring snide comments, I found irritating.
