I was enjoying this movie right up until the start of the last act, then it just quickly went downhill. Perhaps if I had read the book before and knew what was going to happen I wouldn't have felt so ambushed, and I wonder if younger audiences will feel the same mixture of confusing emotions. I feel like the ending muddled the movie by somewhat romanticizing the theme it was portraying, and poorly handled the aftermath, perhaps to the detriment of younger, more emotionally susceptible viewers. I can't really express my feelings without giving away spoilers, I'll just leave it there.
