This game certainly isn't for everyone, but it only takes a rudimentary grasp of skateboarding technique to understand how to maneuver the board. In this regard, the controls are fantastically implemented. The console release is admittedly thin on content outside of its core mechanic (which did concern me, considering how active the modding community is for the PC version) but I was pleasantly surprised how many hours I spent experimenting with lines, gapping, trying new tricks, generally having great fun creating my own fun (like real skateboarding!). I'm confident the devs will build on the game; a fleshed-out character creator, level editor and multiplayer would be welcome additions for sure. This is an impressive indie game which excels in delivering, at its core, what makes skateboarding itself enjoyable. If a more arcade feel is what you prefer (I also love THPS) then this game may not be what you expect.
