This is a classic now, at less for Chinese drama! Even after 3 years, I can come back to it and still enjoy it... I'm just sad that the captions don't capture the depth of the Chinese lingo, a lot of stuff is lost in translation... the story has a lot more depth if you understand just a bit of Chinese and can google the words/phrase that you don't know, it will be more exhausting but it should be more enjoyable and would have been better experienced, not to say that you get to learn a lingo... since in Chinese a paragraph of stuff can be shortened into just 4,6 or 8 charters, called Chengyu and Antithetical couplet, they add an enormous amount of depth to imagery, symbolism and theme. some show's that will give context to this show are: 青丘狐传说, 鸿门宴 some other shows that I recommend are: 庆余年, 锦衣天下, 扶摇, 香蜜沉沉烬如霜 other clasics: 三国杀, 南岭王, 鸿门宴, 西游记, these are much older and have less special effects most of these are the early 2000s
